The Ennepetal-based specialist in the field of stainless steel-fasteners and C-parts management has received the sought-after distinction for the period up to November 2008. This means that Lederer is now one of only a few thousand German companies to have itself audited on the basis of the globally valid ISO standards.

Although Lederer, as a trading company pure and simple, does not focus its activities primarily on the handling of hazardous substances, the company wants to play its part in preserving the natural environment and the basis of future generations’ existence.

In this way, the protection and preservation of the environment and natural resources has become no less a matter of course for Lederer than the successful company’s quality assurance for its articles and its certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 to guarantee the high standard of its processes and services.

In addition to the optimization of operational processes from an environmental standpoint, specific aims have been defined. These include the following:

  • Reducing the quantity of waste, separating types of waste and reducing waste disposal costs
  • Reducing energy and water consumption by at least 5% per year
  • Training all of the staff and sensitizing/motivating them for the benefit of active implementation
  • Including suppliers and customers in the process, selecting responsible partners.

Following thorough examinations and audits, DEKRA, the international certification service provider, confirmed that all of the measures implemented at Lederer fulfil the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14001 on a high level.
Annual monitoring audits and the mandatory recertification after three years have expired will guarantee the rigorous adherence to and further development of environmental management in the company.

When presenting the certificate, Managing Director Dr. Volker Lederer emphasized the following:
“These days, an environmental management system and the certification that it involves are an indispensable part of modern corporate management and an important instrument in the fulfilment of our responsibility in the environmental protection field.”
