"50 would have been good, but we still need something to aim for", remarks the founder's son and Managing Director Dr. Volker Lederer with a wink as he commented on the company's earnings for 2010.

Following a rather more sluggish year in 2009, the Ennepetal-based specialist in the fields of stainless steel fasteners and C-parts management returned to the robust growth it had achieved in the preceding years and concluded the 41st year of its existence with unprecedented sales figures of EUR 47.7 million. This means that the company's sales have more than doubled over the past seven years.

Converted to unit sales, this means that over 913 million articles in all were delivered to customers in Germany, Europe and the rest of the world; on average, some 3.6 million screws, nuts and acces-sory items left the central warehouse in Ennepetal every day (an increase of 63% in the past seven years).

In order to keep on meeting customers' ever more sophisticated requirements in the future, Lederer GmbH will be putting a testing laboratory into operation in Shanghai, China, in the spring of 2011. This will support both the purchasing and selling activities of the company on the Asian market; a chinese company, after all, is now one of the medium-sized company's top ten customers.

At the same time, an overarching Sales Director was appointed for the first time to coincide with the start of 2011. He has overall responsibility for the domestic Industry and Trade sales departments as well as the European and global export operations and the C-parts-management. Peter Henke has worked at Lederer for 18 years and has played a prominent part in the company's development so far. Together with the 100 employees who are now subordinate to him, the new executive with full power of attorney ("prokurist") wants to break through the 50 million euro sales threshold in 2011. . "And then we'll break through the sonic barrier of 1 billion articles sold as well", says Mr Henke, setting his target for the current year.
