To this end, Lederer has recently deployed its first electrically powered transport vehicle in supply logistics, complementing an existing fleet of electric passenger cars. The vehicle is charged using the company’s own photovoltaic electricity and is specifically used for Kanban replenishment. As a result, transport-related emissions can already be significantly reduced in day-to-day operations.
The use of this electric vehicle is part of a gradual transformation process aimed at achieving a climate-neutral supply approach in C-parts management in the long term. At the same time, Lederer is continuously optimizing delivery and replenishment cycles as well as packaging and transport concepts within LeLog® SUPPLY to unlock additional savings potential.
In addition, Lederer has fully transitioned its own electricity consumption into renewable energy sources. The required electricity is either generated by the company’s own photovoltaic system or sourced as 100% certified green electricity.
CO₂ reduction is also becoming increasingly important along the supply chain: within the framework of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Lederer will place greater emphasis on CO₂ emissions in supplier selection going forward. For non-European manufacturers, low emissions may thus become a decisive competitive advantage. At the same time, this approach helps drive decarbonization across the entire value chain – and ultimately reduces customers’ carbon footprint in the C-parts segment.
Beyond environmental aspects, technological developments are also moving into sharper focus. In particular, the growing demand for data transparency and data exchange is shaping customer requirements. What is needed are solutions that provide detailed insights into inventory data, ensure transparency of inbound goods movements, and make consumption figures available at the push of a button.
Against this backdrop, Lederer is currently developing a customer portal designed to create even greater transparency in Kanban processes. The aim is to make inventory levels and demand more visible, thereby further optimizing supply processes. In the future, this will also help avoid unnecessary transport trips and achieve additional CO₂ savings.
With this holistic approach, Lederer demonstrates how sustainable and digital solutions can be effectively integrated into existing supply structures – sending a clear signal for greater climate protection and efficiency in indirect procurement.
