Lederer expands product range: New fasteners in 1.4462 (Duplex) and 1.4571 (A5 / 316Ti) – available immediately

With the materials 1.4462 and 1.4571, Lederer is adding two high performance material groups to its standard product range. Both grades offer high corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical strength and are now available from stock in selected dimensions.

We are expanding our portfolio of high‑quality stainless steel fasteners to include two new material groups: 1.4462 (Duplex) and 1.4571 (A5 / 316Ti). Both materials have been established for many years in demanding industrial applications and close important gaps where robust mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance are required. By adding these grades to its stock programme, Lederer ensures that customers can access these materials more quickly and flexibly in the future.

1. New product group: Fasteners made from 1.4462 (Duplex)

The duplex grade 1.4462 (Duplex 2205) features an austenitic‑ferritic microstructure, resulting in significantly higher mechanical strength compared with conventional stainless steels. Typical properties such as a yield strength of ≥ 450 MPa and a tensile strength of 650–880 MPa enable its use in highly stressed structures.

In addition, 1.4462 offers outstanding corrosion resistance, particularly against pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion and chloride‑containing environments – including offshore atmospheres and seawater exposure. The combination of high strength and corrosion resistance makes this material ideal for demanding applications such as:

  • Offshore and maritime structures
  • Façade and load‑bearing components in coastal areas
  • Chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Seawater desalination facilities

Thanks to good weldability and low thermal expansion, duplex steel is also well suited for precise, permanently stable bolted connections. Further advantages include very good fatigue and wear resistance, as well as suitability for many applications at temperatures up to approximately 250 °C.

Newly available products made from 1.4462:
Hexagon bolts, threaded rods, nuts, washers, as well as fasteners in accordance with common standards (DIN / ANSI / JIS).

2. New product group: Fasteners made from 1.4571 (A5 / 316Ti)

The titanium‑stabilised stainless steel 1.4571 (A5 / 316Ti) has long been a standard material for chemically demanding and industrial environments. Due to titanium stabilisation, the material remains reliably resistant to intergranular corrosion even after welding – a decisive advantage for long‑lasting structures.

1.4571 offers high resistance to chemical media, moderate chloride exposure and, in particular, to SO₂‑containing industrial atmospheres, such as those found in exhaust gas or process air environments. The material is ideally suited for applications where maintenance and replacement are difficult, for example in installed or hard‑to‑access components.

Typical areas of application include:

  • Process and plant engineering
  • Environmental and energy technology (e.g. exhaust gas and wastewater systems)
  • Construction and architecture
  • Food and beverage industry
  • Mechanical engineering and – with limitations – shipbuilding (not in direct contact with seawater)

1.4571 can be processed using almost all common welding methods (except gas welding) and features a stable austenitic structure. Although a high‑gloss polish is limited due to the titanium content, this does not affect functional performance.

Newly available products made from 1.4571:
Threaded rods, hexagon bolts, washers and spring washers.

With these material additions, we are further strengthening our position as a supplier of high‑quality fasteners for demanding industrial applications. The combination of mechanical performance, high corrosion resistance and now immediate availability from stock offers customers clear added value – particularly in industries where safety, process reliability and availability are critical.
